Turn Back the Clock with Fit Over 40

Fit Over 40 is a 304-page ebook that was written by Jon Benson (TLP, NFC) and Tom Venuto (CSCS, CPT). Jon Benson is the primary author who spent over a year of his life putting this book together. While it's geared for those over 40, you can get something from this book no matter how old you are. I'm 33 and I found the information in this book incredibly useful. Fit Over 40 has decades worth of knowledge from several fitness "role models," which is the cornerstone of Jon's program.

Fit Over 40 by Jon BensonFit Over 40 focuses on role modeling because Jon believes it addresses the fact that no one program will work for everyone. There’s not a legit fitness pro out there who will argue with this statement, says Jon - and I agree with him. Like Jon says, if you find a, "one size fits all program," run! One diet, one training program, or even one way of thinking will not work for everyone and that's why role modeling is so effective.

Rather than just tell you his own personal story of going from obese to fit, Fit Over 40 tells the stories of 52 other people as well. They range in ages from 40 to 80, literally, and come from every gender, country, walk of life, and condition you can think of.

There are some “genetic mutants”, as Jon calls them, who never had much of a problem with body fat, and there are others who were more than 100 pounds overweight! The one thing all of these role models have in common is that they do amazing things with their "new lean bodies" - at an age when most people want to settle down, play golf, or retire. Not these role models - no way!

Jon instructs you in Fit Over 40 on how to select a role model - how he personally changed his lifestyle (nutrition, exercise and mindset) to empower a permanent change from obesity and near-death, to health and superb fitness. Also, the 52 role models in Fit Over 40 provide overviews of their diets, workouts and mindsets toward fitness, including their personal stories of transformation and encouragement. Amazingly, they also provide their email addresses to contact them.

Tom Venuto concludes the book with 100 pages on training tips, nutrition, recovery, mental strategies, success patterns of the fit over 40 crowd, and more.

Pros and Cons of Fit Over 40:

There aren't many cons to this program. The only con I can see (and I don't even consider this a con) is that there is no “1-2-3 plan to fitness.” You have 53 plans to choose from, and even more if you consider the fact that you can take a little from each role model and create your own fitness plan! This really separates Fit Over 40 from any book out there, and most people find this a “pro” not a con.

The pros are you get highly informative and inspiring stories, real-world examples of transformation, strategies for mental empowerment (rarely covered in fitness books), beautifully designed and formatted with large pictures — something I always like in e-books, and top-flight customer service.
